In Hinduism, the Lord Shiva is said to live under the Bael tree. In India, the tree is often found in temple gardens and its leaves are used in religious celebrations.

Effect of Bilva Powder on Tridoshas:

Bael Powder is Kapha-Vata hara (Pacifies Kapha and Vata); i.e. it is useful in management of all the diseases having their origin either in aggravated Kapha/ Vata or both.

Home Remedial Uses of Bilva Powder in Ayurveda:

  • Shothahara- As per Ayurveda Shotha stands for swelling which results from fluid retention which in turn is the resultant of metabolic disturbance. Bael Powder pacifies the Vata and Kapha Doshas which are responsible for metabolic disturbances most of the times.
  • Arshoghna- Piles are the resultant of disturbed digestive system. Bael Powder corrects the digestive system so it is recommended dietary supplement for piles.
  • Aasthapanopaga- Bael Powder is useful in enhancing the effect of Aasthapana Vasti (Therapeutic enema with decoction as the major content - it is Vata pacifying in characteristic)
